Vibe 15

So the other day I wrote this long blog entry about my amazing experience at Vibe 15. I went to save it forgetting to copy my entry JUST IN CASE and sure enough my OWN CMS logged me out and I lost it all. So I’ll attempt to remember what I originally wrote. First, I was there repping Kallusive and hosting a behind the scenes look at vibe. Be sure to peep the site in coming weeks for the vid. Second, let me state, the level of commercial hip hop choreo has increased to a ridiculous magnitude. The lyric matching musicality and dynamic movements are amazing to watch, especially when squads of 30 to 60 are performing the SAME movements. Mike Song’s piece from his new “family-gathering,” Anbu Black Ops was my personal favorite:

I loved choreo cookies, Kaba Modern Legacy and this piece by Unity is just beautiful, in addition to being a nice break from all the choreo choreo choreo.

As a side note, I do wanna say that I hope I can assist in being a bridge for the very large gap that exist between Street Dancers and Choreo Dancers. It always blows my mind how this kids can move sooo well doing choreo but then when you tell them to just dance, the task proves quite difficult. I also have to say that watching this “bubble” of a dance community in Irvine makes me quite envious of how it must be to have a college experience full of a supportive dance community. I didn’t have that in ATL Shawty but it makes me thankful that I found Totem and Joy my two bboyin sensei’s. Definitely grateful that I at least experienced the community that Totem built even if now where near the size of the dance bubble in So Cal.

Congrats to Choreo Cookies, Common Ground, and Team Millenia, for placing 1st,2nd,3rd. Also, remember to check out Kallusive.com in the next couple weeks for the behind the scenes look at vibe hosted by yours truly.

I tried contacting ‘toyloverz’ via his youtube channel but no response thus far. I want to thank him for making this and send him some free stuff so hopefully he’ll respond soon. If any of you care to make videos like this with my material or your own parodies mocking my stuff PLEASE DOOOO! I love it and welcome it. The world would be such a better place if we could all poke fun at OURSELVES.

Here it is in all its 30 seconds of glory:

Hey Party People!

You’ve been asking so here it is FINALLY, the Learn To Groove Trailer. This is a dvd that really focuses on fundamental dance knowledge. Counting hip hop beats, rhythm training, stamina, and isolating different parts of your body to different parts of an 8-count hip hop beat including the downbeat and upbeat. Enjoy:

Also, I decided to upload the original Top 20 Breakdance Moves Trailer as well! Double Enjoy:

I filmed the Learn To Groove dvd in HD but of course the Top 20 in SD so you can see the production difference. Both are available in standard DVD quality. If you are interested in learning more click right…....... HERE!

Happy New Year 2010

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR from Breakdancedvd.com!!!! May your 2010 be full of incredible memories, health and well-being, financial improvements, and full of a new array of dance moves. Speaking of dance moves. I spent my New Years this year at Home in the ATL SHAWTY! If you’re anything like me, you love dancing at the club and it was sooooo packed (as usual) that my friends and I just ended up doing obnoxious moves like the body roll all the night long!!! I realized how powerful the body roll really is. Not to mention the face that alot of people really can’t properly perform the body roll. You know, the body roll is really a necessity if you wanna do isolations like waving and of course “the sexy dance.” I thought for sure I was going to be punched by some dood for body rolling but in fact, the opposite happened. I was body rolling it up and doods, sometimes after slight or even extended hesitation, would join in and ladies were lovin it. So this New Years, I salute you—SIR BODY ROLL. Thank you for bringing happiness and smiles to people around me on New Year’s Eve via your mastery of obnoxious yet hilarious bodily movement.

p.s.
If you guys want me to teach a body roll tutorial… just let a brotha know. In the meantime check out the new Learn To Groove Dvd for some helpful basic club dance moves. WERD!
